The Environment Agency has published a briefing note which provides an overview of the impacts of Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) on the intensive farming sector.
All existing intensive farms with a permit will be the subject of IED from 7 January 2014. The EA are still considering how this will occur and further advice will be provided nearer the time.
The update includes information regarding:
- Site condition reports
- Permit template changes
- Emissions of substances not controlled by emission limits (eg groundwater and soil)
- Notifications
- Pests
