Defra is inviting applications from people interested in joining the governing bodies for several National Park Authorities and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

As a Secretary of State appointment, board members will sit alongside local councillors.

Members devote an estimated one to four days per month, serving on committees or attending workshops or training.

Defra is particularly interested in applicants with a clear understanding of land management, rural communities as well as protection and enhancement of the environment.

The posts are non-salaried, although members may claim certain allowances and expenses.

What would I have to do?
