That means farmers can now complete their declarations and confirm all information before submitting their application online. Farmers can also transfer land and entitlements online.

Anyone who applied online for the Basic Payment Scheme in 2016 will be emailed all they need to apply online for BPS in 2017. Those who did not apply online in 2016 and did not use an agent will soon be sent a paper form and guidance on how to apply online.

The deadline is midnight on 15 May 2017- but why wait? Go to www.gov.uk/ruralpayments to start now.

Remember, it is your responsibility to make sure that all the land included in the application you submit is correct, that you claim the correct number of entitlements for payment and that you meet the scheme rules.

If someone else is going to apply on your behalf, make sure you've given them BPS 'submit' permissions in the Rural Payments service. They must be registered on the service before you can do this.
