Guide: Cross compliance and the 2017 hedge-cutting derogation

Andrew Pitts hedgerow, Northants with OSR crop_24413

The rules on cutting hedges and trees are set out in the cross compliance standard GAEC 7a: Boundaries and 7c: Trees.

We've put together a briefing to explain the process of applying for a derogation to trim hedges and trees in August, under certain circumstances. If you know you will need the derogation, it's important to apply early as there can be a three week turnaround.

Members can read a guide to our work on this issue, and find out how to apply here (you will be asked to log-in).
