Briefing: AD on track for 1000 plants?

The NFU's oft-consulted policy briefing document on anaerobic digestion (AD) has been updated once again to include developments in biomethane, planning and permitting, as well as the ambition shared between industry and government to see more smaller-scale on-farm deployment.

anaerobic digesterBy the end of this decade, AD in Britain could be processing a significant proportion of manures, slurries, food waste and agricultural discards together with crop feedstocks - while delivering a multiplicity of environmental benefits alongside low-carbon energy.  Despite a slow start, it looks like the AD industry is robust, innovative and well on the way to achieving the widely shared ambition of 1000 plants by 2020.
