With many of the 1,000 large-scale installations in Britain now moving beyond their initial two-year warranty periods, owners are tendering for new contracts – and choosing the right service provider in a very competitive industry can be a formidable task.

SolarPower Europe and the Solar Trade Association are running a joint conference in London on Tuesday 6th December entitled “Raising Standards in Solar PV O&M” where solar asset owners and O&M providers will debate how the sector must evolve. The NFU’s Dr Jonathan Scurlock is speaking at 1130 on “Land management and working with the environment”, covering good agricultural practice and biodiversity management in solar farms.

According to NFU Vice-President Guy Smith, "as a solar farmer, I can tweak the management of my solar farm to deliver biodiversity alongside renewable energy, and we can also produce lamb between those panels."

Hosted by Bird & Bird, 12 New Fetter Lane, London EC4A 1JP, this all-day event runs from 0830 to 1730, followed by a networking drinks reception.

NFU members are eligible for a 20% discount (apply the code NFUOM) on the conference fee of £350 + VAT – click here for more details from the Solar Trade Association.
