Renewable Heat update

Kielderwoodchip

  • The small biomass tariff will drop by 5% from 1st July, according to the ‘tariff degression’ formula already in place. Commercial boilers under 200 kilowatts will receive 8.4p/kWh in Tier 1 (0.4p less), and 2.2p/kWh in Tier 2 (0.1p less).
  • New technology categories were introduced on 28th May – there is support now for air-to-water heat pumps, biomass CHP and deep geothermal
  • Increased tariffs also apply from 28th May for ground source heat pumps, solar thermal and large biomass boilers (now 2p/kWh for more than one megawatt)
  • support for biogas heat over 200 kilowatts – a key NFU ‘ask’ in previous years
