The Department of Energy and Climate Change has consulted again on reducing support under the Renewables Obligation to 0.8 ROCs/MWh for new solar projects up to 5 MW capacity, to apply from June 2016.
We think ending the ‘grandfathering’ of support for solar farms and rooftops does not make sense for an energy source that is fast becoming the cheapest form of new electricity generation. The NFU previously expressed its concerns about having a ‘banding review’ restricted to England and Wales, since our members stand to lose out to farmers elsewhere in the UK, where more consistent policy support remains available.
