Know your lines
With lots of machinery now at work in the fields, take care that telehandler booms, tipping trailers and open combine grain lids don’t come into contact with overhead power lines, some of which may only be 5.2m from the ground. All workers should know what to do if they hit a power line; remain in the cab and phone to get the power supply switched off. If you have to leave the cab, jump well clear (feet together) and then run.
Details on what to do if you do hit a power line can be found on the HSE’s website: http://www.hse.gov.uk/agriculture/topics/electricity.htm
