Commission launches CAP greening consultation

In order to inform the simplification efforts, the European Commission has launched an online consultation seeking views on experiences with the first year of implementing the new greening rules. The aim is “to provide evidence for the potential to reduce the administrative burden for farmers and national administrations arising from the implementation of the greening requirements; and/or where the requirements overlap or are inconsistent; and could be modified without affecting the environmental objectives of the greening and the sound financial management of the CAP.” The Commissioner has announced that he will present a package of changes to the implementing and delegated acts pertaining to greening before the summer of 2016. Any changes should then be applicable from claim year 2017.

The NFU will respond on behalf of members to the consultation and you are encouraged to send your response to the European Commission directly. It can be completed here https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/greening-first-year

To help inform the NFU position, please also send the NFU a copy of your response by saving as a draft before submitting online and emailing it to R2FpbC5Tb3V0YXJAbmZ1Lm9yZy51aw== or faxing to 02476858501 by 19 February 2016. Alternatively you may complete the following questionnaire and return to Gail Soutar.
