The incident happened at a farm in Yarcombe at 6.15pm Wednesday, February 17. A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said that the 61-year-old man was treated by paramedics, but died at the scene a short time later.

The most common cause of serious and fatal injuries in agriculture involves moving and overturning vehicles. All vehicles can overturn. They don’t just happen on or near banks, ditches, drains, ramps, uneven or flat ground. Vehicles can also overturn on artificial slopes such as ramps, or when performing tasks such as delivering goods on farms. Follow the guidance produced by the Farm Safety Partnership on ‘Managing the Safe Receipt of Animal Feeds’.

Further guidance on vehicles can be found on the HSE agriculture micro site Farm Vehicles and safe workplace transport.
