In its review, the commission highlighted many flaws with the current regime and presented numerous proposals for change in a consultation paper.
Our response recognises the current position is highly complex, with differing levels of protection for certain species. While in principle we would welcome the Law Commission’s overall aim of creating a comprehensive single statute for wildlife law, we have reservations about the proposals as put forward.
