Tractor driving through village_200_153

Until 8th June 2015 non - GB drivers who registered with the DVLA were issued with a paper licence counterpart. Following the abolition of the paper driver licence counterpart in June 2015 non - GB drivers who register with the DVLA will be issued with a D91 certificate.

The D91 certificate only acknowledges that a non - GB driver has registered with the DVLA it does not record or show details of any penalty points that the driver may have accrued.

It is possible to check the validity of a non - GB driver’s details if:

  1. The driver phones the DVLA Contact Centre (0300 790 6801) and leaves permission for a third party to call within a week for information from the record of the driver concerned; or
  2. The third party calls the DVLA (0300 790 6801)on a three way call with the driver present to check the details.

The DVLA general line is 0300 790 6801.
