To drive or keep a vehicle on the road you will still need to get the vehicle taxed. You will need to complete New Keeper Supplement (V5C/2) part of the vehicle registration certificate V5(C) either:
- Online
- By Telephone: 0300 123 4321 (call charges apply)
- At your local post office (you will need the V11 reminder an MOT tests certificate if appropriate and the payment (if any) shown on the reminder.)
The main other changes are:
- You will need to get the vehicle taxed before you can use the vehicle as the tax will no longer be transferred at purchase.
- You will automatically be refunded tax when DVLA are notified by you that the vehicle is no longer in your ownership or is SORN (Statutory Off Road Notice)
The DVLA will still send you a renewal reminder when your vehicle tax is due to expire.
