A Petition is a document that sets out your objections and outlines what you would like Parliament to do about it.
- Petitioning is a two-stage process - first, drafting your petition and depositing it in Parliament, and secondly appearing before a select committee to explain your case.

Local authorities and businesses (excluding parish councils) will have from 29 April to 16 May to deposit their petitions.
Individuals and all other petitioners will have a further week, until 23 May.
As farmers you will be treated as an individual if you reside on that farm holding, but if you have a separate business away from the main holding which is affected by HS2 you may be treated as a business.
