Drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are an emerging feature in UK agriculture, with numerous applications ranging from visual surveying and yield prediction to weed detection and spraying.

However, there is a distinct lack of clarity about the rules and regulations for their operation, and also on where a landowner stands when an unknown individual operates a drone over their land.

Our new NFU member briefing gives a condensed, general overview of the current regulations relating to farmers using drones and also considers the privacy issues farmers may face.

It should cover the main areas you are likely to have queries about, and is not intended as a policy document on the general role of drones in agriculture.
