Equinor opened a first round of consultation on the 9 July 2020 to put forward proposals to extend both the Sheringham Shoal and Dudgeon offshore wind farms, located off the Norfolk Coast. The Sheringham Shoal extension project is planned to have a generating capacity of up to 317MW, while the Dudgeon extension project is planned to have a capacity of up to 402MW. Electricity generated by the extension projects will be brought ashore via subsea cables and will reach the coastline at Weybourne. The cables will then be laid underground heading south towards a new onshore substation near to the existing National Grid Norwich Main Substation.
