Adviser (Skills & Employment)
Salary circa £33,428 per annum (Grade 4)
Location: NFU, Stoneleigh, Warwickshire HQ
We are looking to recruit a policy adviser with an eye for detail and ability to analyse complex information and translate it for non-experts. You will need to be very well organised and relish juggling competing priorities and demands.
You will be an excellent networker, who thinks innovatively about how to solve problems and achieve results in challenging circumstances.
You will be an authoritative, persuasive and articulate communicator in both writing and speaking. Strong team-working skills are essential for this role, along with proven project management experience.
An interest in agriculture and horticulture is essential, and experience of working with an industry sector on skills and/or employment policy would be an advantage.
About the Role
In this role you will lead the NFU’s policy work on skills and training of farmers and growers, on the availability of agricultural workforce and on employment legislation that applies to farm businesses.
You will be the national expert in these issues, representing the NFU to influence skills and employment strategy, policy and regulation, and providing information and support to NFU staff, officeholders and members.
You will analyse the impact of policies, rules and initiatives generated by government and other organisations, addressing the workforce needs of British farm businesses and promoting professionalism in the industry.
