Ahead of COP28 in UAE, Countryside COP will bring together spokespeople from farming, education, finance, research and more to discuss how UK agriculture and the rural economy can help combat climate change and improve sustainability.
Running from 20-24 November, events will range from in-person farm walks to webinars on sector-wide issues, as well as more specific areas of particular interest to those in the rural community.
NFU Deputy President Tom Bradshaw said: “Now in its third year, Countryside COP provides another fantastic opportunity to showcase how rural communities and Britain’s food supply chain can contribute to a sustainable and resilient economy.
“For farmers and growers, it’s also a chance to explore how we can embrace the opportunities that come alongside the challenge of reaching net zero, all while continuing to produce fantastic, affordable, climate-friendly food for people at home and abroad.”
The Agriculture & Land Use Alliance said: “All of us have a part to play in the journey to net zero and we are stronger when working together. Countryside COP is an opportunity for anyone with an interest in the countryside and an ambition to reach net zero to come together – whether that’s to share their expertise, experience and knowledge or to learn from others.
“The more people who get involved in Countryside COP, the more we can help rural areas maximise their contribution to the government’s net zero target. So please do get involved – there really is something in the schedule for everyone.”
