Are you in an NVZ following the 2017 review?

NVZ 2017 to 2020_275_388Formal notification of which lands are to be classified as Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ) is now underway.

Designated areas are shown on an interactive map available from the EA WIYBY website. Search by postcode or placename.

Click on the EA overview map to see the main changes proposed. The dark blue areas are proposed as new NVZs, light blue areas are existing NVZs while red areas will be removed as NVZs.

Defra will notify farmers in NVZs by post between now and the end of February. Notices will be sent in the following three batches, organised by River Basin District:

3 JanNorth West, Solway Tweed, Dee, Severn
23 JanAnglian, Thames, South East, South West
20 FebNorthumbria, Humber

Farmers have 28 days from the date of notification to appeal the decision to designate land as an NVZ.
