NFU President Minette Batters said: “The NFU stands firmly behind the Black Lives Matter campaign and we will never tolerate racism in any form within our organisation or the wider farming community.

“We are also committed to encouraging diversity in the NFU and supporting it in the farming community. Our education programmes are taking farming into classrooms across the country, from inner-city areas of London to rural schools in the countryside. We are proud that the winner of our first Farmvention competition was a primary school in Wandsworth, London, which has students from an incredibly diverse range of backgrounds, who are now actively engaged with farming.

“The NFU and British farming is open to anyone who wants to pursue a career in our fantastic industry and we are dedicated to achieving that across all of our work.”
