Applications for 50% planting grants covering miscanthus, short rotation coppice willow and a number of other eligible tree species for 2013, 2014 or 2015 establishment must therefore be submitted to Natural England by August 31 - less than six months away.

No decision has yet been made on how perennial energy crops may be supported after the current scheme comes to an end, but farmers and land managers can still apply for future planting up in up to 24 months' time.
