This is part of the bTB strategy review’s evidence gathering phase and will only consider topics included in the review’s terms of reference. The review is not assessing the current bTB strategy, but looking at what should be prioritised in the future.
Defra is asking for evidence regarding:
- Research considering how to improve deployment of existing bTB control interventions
- Potential new approaches and tools/technologies to deal with bTB
- Approaches taken to control bTB in other countries
- Work on human TB that might be relevant to the review
The deadline for responses is Thursday 31 May 2018 and the NFU will be formulating a response over the coming weeks.
As this is in the early stages of the process, we encourage members to provide their input and experiences by emailing the animal health team.
Members can also feed comments directly into Defra.
On Thursday 27 September 2018, there will be a Westminster Briefing meeting to discuss the next steps for eradicating TB which will be held in central London. NFU representatives will be in attendance to participate in discussions.
