Survey: Livestock farmers needed to review range of animal diseases

Livestock, cattle and sheep, Somerset_42933

A survey has been launched where you will be asked to review a range of diseases and conditions, the majority of which have been identified by expert groups as having a significant impact on our industry’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Ruminant Health & Welfare, the new independent industry-based body of which the NFU is a member, has been tasked with pushing back on sheep and cattle disease across the four home nations. Cattle and sheep diseases erode animal welfare and production efficiency and addressing them must be the focus of future policy and research efforts in the UK.

The group wants to know which you, and others who work with cattle and sheep on a daily basis, believe are the most important challenges – and if there are others you believe should be included.

Your views could feed into future activities and may influence future research programmes.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete, and by participating you have a chance to win one of three farmhouse hampers worth £50 – just submit your survey before midnight Sunday 10 January 2021.
