Winter tree-planting season

National Tree Week starts on the 29th November. To launch the start of winter tree-planting season, don’t forget to support your local nurseries and buy British nursery stock for farm woodland and hedgerows.

The Tree Council aims its activities at local communities, bringing people together at events across the country to plant around a million trees. But that's not to stop individuals and farm enterprises from scheduling their tree planting to coincide with this national event.

In the aftermath of the ash dieback crisis, landowners have slowed tree planting plans, but the industry has plenty of other native tree species to offer and people should not be deterred from planting other woodland tree species.

More nurseries are investing time and effort in perfecting their growing techniques resulting in plants being grown for long term quality and ultimately: end-user profitability. You can support British-grown stock by looking for its provenance on the label or looking for the Home Grown logo.
