Red Tractor extends temporary storage

In response to concerns raised by AIC and NFU, Red Tractor have extended the deadline beyond which temporary stores cannot be used.

This comes in response to the logistical challenge presented by the 31 October Brexit deadline, which has forced the supply chain to focus efforts and resources on exports up to this date.

For grain destined for animal feed, biofuel, export and non-food users, there will be an industry-wide derogation on the temporary storage deadline which will be extended from 31 October 2019 to Friday 15 November 2019.

For grain destined for human food use, the temporary storage deadline continues to be 31 October 2019.

Any temporary storage required after the 31 October 2019 for human food use and 15 November 2019 for all other uses will continue to be handled on a case-by-case basis and will require an approved application for a derogation to the member’s Certification Body.

To support the safe storage of grain and to minimise the risk of quality deteriorating, members are advised to use the AHDB Grain storage guide and safe storage time calculator.

For more information on this derogation, please see: Red Tractor Assurance.
