Launched in 2000, it has become an annual event, with more than 30 countries around the world joining in.
The NFU is keen to promote the consumption of milk in schools and ensure dairy products remain affordable and accessible to young children to enable healthy diets and support future consumption trends.
How we are celebrating:
After two successful years holding events at primary schools in Birmingham and Coventry, the NFU education and dairy teams will be joining forces with two schools in the West Midlands today (Wednesday 25 September) - Kings Norton Primary School in Birmingham and Kates Hill Community Primary School in Dudley.
Youngsters in year 5 will be split into groups to take part in a number of fun and educational activities with a food and farming theme; talking to dairy farmer John Alpe, who sits on the NFU national dairy board, and milk-themed farming STEMterprise sessions where pupils will be able to design and brand a milk based breakfast drink, blending milk with other British ingredients such as oats, wheat and fruit.
