New NFU Red Tractor dairy board representative

Ian Harvey, a dairy farmer from Cornwall, has been appointed as the NFUs new Red Tractor dairy board representative alongside NFU dairy board vice chairman Paul Tompkins.

Ian is part of a family run enterprise which milks a herd of 180 Holstein Friesians and Pedigree Ayrshires on around 400 acres in the South West.

Currently an NFU dairy board appointee, Ian also sits on the NFU’s Dairy Environmental Issues Group and is the Finance Director for Dairy Crest Direct (DCD). A strong advocate of dairy producer organisations, Ian believes in the importance of farmer cooperation to improve dairy supply chain resilience.

He said: “I look forward to taking up the Red Tractor appointment and helping to encourage farmer engagement in farm assurance”

The purpose of the Red Tractor Dairy Board is to advise on the development of the technical strategy for the sector and to take it forward with the engagement of all stakeholders, such that it contributes to the Red Tractor Vision & Purpose.
