Paul is a first generation farmer who runs a 200 cow herd with his wife at Southacres farm in the Vale of York. He’s an active member on the NFU regional and national dairy boards and is also an AHDB Dairy Ambassador.
His nomination for the award said: “He has a passion for representing the industry in a positive light. An incredibly active member of the NFU dairy boards, he’s always willing to find time to put in the hours needed on behalf of his fellow dairy farmers – whether that’s meeting behind closed doors with processors and retailers, taking animals into schools or standing in town and city centres talking to the public about dairy farming.
“He’s also a tireless social media campaigner, promoting milk and dairy farming to the general public. With two other national dairy board members he helped conceive the #HappyCows hashtag on Twitter for World Milk Day which reached over a 100,000 social media timelines with links to blogs and guidance to buying British dairy products.
“Paul is an unstoppable force for good in the dairy industry and deserves recognition for his phenomenal work – all dairy farmers benefit from it.”
The award, sponsored by the NFU, seeks to recognise an individual with a record of working for the positive development of the UK dairy industry. It is also given to someone who represents the industry at a national level, has earned the respect of their peers and demonstrates a driving ambition to promote the dairy sector in a positive, creative and successful way.
The Cream Awards was held recently at the National Conference Centre near Solihull.
