Feedback wanted from Muller meetings

The meetings, that started earlier this month and finish on Thursday (December 1), are being held to explain changes in milk supply contracts.

Müller has carried out a review of contract terms, both within the business and with farmer representatives, to develop the new proposals.

The core principles of the farm contract proposition are:

• Simple, transparent contract terms
• Parameters to incentivise the milk supply our customers and our business need
• A collaborative approach to deliver joint planning
• Greater flexibility to enable us jointly to react to the external environment in the future

Some of the key changes include ‘Notice Periods for Termination’.

From Müller: 12 months in recognition of the importance our suppliers place on contract security.

From suppliers: 6 months except for a base price adjustment or ‘Contract Variation’ where 3 months’ notice applies (subject to terms).

NFU dairy board chairman Michael Oakes said: “It’s vital that Müller suppliers, both aligned and non-aligned, attend these regional meetings to understand how proposed changes to the contract and farmer representation model will impact on them.

“This will be the first time that many ex Dairy Crest liquid milk suppliers will have met the new Müller team, as well as Müller farmers in the same area, so I’d encourage everyone to attend and raise their views.

“The NFU will be meeting with Müller once this series of meetings is over to discuss some of the key findings.”
