Your say on EID plans - last chance

Lambs in April

Back in July, Defra launched a consultation which paves the way for the introduction of a new sheep database and reporting system in England in spring 2014.

For NFU members, the key points include:

  • Proposals to remove the non-electronic batch slaughter tag.

  • Proposals to reduce the amount of time allowed for keepers to submit movement documents if using electronic channels.

  • Potential to allow injectable EID transponders.

The consultation poses 12 questions which are addressed by a draft NFU response here.

Any feedback or responses should be emailed to cGV0ZXIuZ2FyYnV0dEBuZnUub3JnLnVr by this Friday (September132013) to allow us to co-ordinate an overall NFU response.
