Your chance to join influential NFU Hort and Potatoes board

Horticulture Session, day 2 conference 2017_42150

NFU seeks nominations from dynamic and forward thinking members to join the Horticulture and Potatoes board and influence the key policies that impact on growers' businesses.

Over the last year, the NFU Horticulture and Potatoes board has responded to the challenge of Brexit – ensuring access to labour is a key priority for the NFU, and an essential requirement fully understood by politicians. The board has also continued to drive forward its Growth Plan - securing the signature of the largest retailer to the NFU Fruit and Veg Pledge; challenging the potato sector to deliver greater transparency; securing actions to drive consumption of F&V; refreshing the popular NFU Audit Pack; securing business rate changes for nursery growers; and much, much more.

With negotiations on Brexit in full flow, and continued challenges in the fresh produce supply chain, now is a great opportunity to influence the future of the Horticulture and Potatoes sector!

The NFU Horticulture & Potatoes Board consists of 12 appointed members, including an elected chairman (plus up to three additional co-options). The board has a rolling process of annual appointments, to ensure that every two years there is not the prospect of all 12 board members having to seek re-appointment and this enables some continuity of member representation. Board members serve a two-year term of office and can then stand for re-appointment.  In 2018 there are six board members whose two-year term has come to an end
