Sugar Beet Negotiations 2017/18 27 May Update

Sugar beet harvesting_11846

The following email outlines the current situation regarding the sugar beet negotiations for 2017/18 and was e-mailed to growers on the 27 May.

Dear Grower,

Discussions between British Sugar and NFU Sugar are underway for the 2017/18 crop and after a slow start we are now beginning to make some progress. However, because this negotiation relates to the first crop to be grown in the post quota environment there are more matters to resolve than in previous years and we want to get it right. We would therefore be grateful for your patience and forbearance while we work to achieve a sustainable deal for growers.

Pamela Forbes

Chief Sugar Adviser
