Beet price calculator

Beet calculator

You can access the Calculator from the British Sugar Beet Portal (www.bsonline.co.uk), where you will see a link on the left hand side of the site as well as the Tools area. As you enter alternative costs and euro exchange rates, for example, you will see the potential effect on the Beet Price being calculated. You can reset the data again to show the current input prices.

The Online Calculator will help to demonstrate how the sugar beet price for 2013, for example, could be affected by input costs, wheat price and euro exchange rates.

The sugar beet price for the 2013/14 campaign was fixed in June 2012 at £26.51.

Notes:

The actual price for each season is calculated by the British Sugar and NFU agreed Beet Price Model, announced as part of the new IPA (February 2010).

The 2012 price was fixed at £27.53 based on costs at June 2011, the 2011 price was fixed at £23.60 based on costs at May/June 2010 and the current 2013 price was fixed at £26.51 based on costs at May/June 2012 levels.

For the 2014 beet price, the model is officially due to be updated in June 2013.
