Consultation: Southery proposed weight restriction

Norfolk County Council wishes to make a permanent Traffic Regulation Order to the effect that vehicles above 7.5 tonnes would not be permitted to use the B1160 through Southery in either direction on a Saturday or Sunday, or from 8am to 9.30am Monday to Friday.

Two options could be taken forward for formal consultation – see the letter from Norfolk County Council attached below.

The proposal would have serious consequences for the transport of sugar beet to and from the Wissington sugar beet factory, but will also affect other users/owners of agricultural land in the vicinity of Southery. While we will be making a formal response, we also would urge individual growers affected by the proposal to respond to the Council with details of how their businesses would be affected. The deadline is Friday 4 December.
