Organic legislation

At the end of the transition period, UK organic regulations will remain the same as they are now in the immediate term, with no divergence from the EU.

The new EU Organics Regulation which was due to come into force in January 2021 has been postponed and will now come into force on 1 January 2022.

Organic equivalence with the EU

The EU has now agreed to recognise the UK as equivalent for organics until 31 December 2023. This is on top of the already agreed equivalence recognition for UK control bodies, and the UK recognition of the EU as equivalent.

Latest information

Following recent announcements, we are waiting for Defra guidance to be updated.
