As the 6th most popular hashtag at one point during the morning, the campaign was also picked up by over 20 media outlets, including the i newspaper which featured a #buymyturkey article both online and in print. Over 600 entries were received to two turkey-related competitions.
A highlight of the day was an early morning visit by NFU staff to deliver a fresh Christmas turkey to the Chris Moyles show on RadioX, kindly donated by Caldecott Turkeys. The show receives an audience of up to 1.5m listeners, and on 1 December the NFU, NFUonline, and the NFU Turkey Finder received numerous mentions throughout the show, as well as the #buymyturkey sign being streamed live on-air to thousands of online viewers.
The aim of the day was to encourage consumers to look closer to home for their Christmas turkey, and use the NFU Turkey Finder to source a local bird. In total, the NFU Turkey Finder received over 2.3k views.
We would like to thank everyone who took part during the day, and helped us to achieve this phenomenal result, bringing farmers, the wider industry and consumers together to back British farming and choose a farm fresh local turkey this Christmas.
