The proposed code of practice aims to provide improved up-to-date guidance on the current legislation, reflect the latest scientific and veterinary knowledge, and be presented in a clear and relevant way for farmers.
This follows the Defra consultation on the code of practice for the welfare of meat chicken and meat breeding chickens which was laid before Parliament earlier this year; this will come into force on 26 March 2018.
