Updates to the Countryside Stewardship scheme have been made, along with changes to payment rates for the first time since 2014 after NFU calls.

For 2023 Countryside Stewardship the indication is that the key application dates will remain the same. Defra has announced that there will be improvements in the online application process and further additional options available including new lowland peats options.

A short timeframe to apply

The Countryside Stewardship Facilitation Fund application window is now open and will close on 2 February 2022: a relatively short timeframe given the time of year.

We helped secure an extension of two weeks after raising concerns brought to our attention by members and facilitators.
