Infrastructure and utilities – impact on BPS and other schemes

A picture of a high speed train

Infrastructure and utility works, such as HS2, are being carried out across England on varying scales. We take a look at how they might affect your BPS, SFI and agri-environment scheme payments.

Currently, the largest infrastructure works being carried out is the development of HS2.

HS2 is serving notices to take land for the construction of the railway on Phase 1 between London and Birmingham.

HS2 is also beginning to serve notices to take land for ecological mitigation works and is due to start serving notices for the construction of the line for Phase 2a between the West Midlands and Crewe in 2023.

The NFU's BPS advisers have put together the key points to consider if you are claiming BPS, SFI or an agri-environment scheme on the land that is to be taken. The guidance also covers delinked payments.
