  • NFU chief sustainable supply chains adviser Alex Stevens is speaking at the Devon Food Hub farm to fork event on key policy asks post-election and public sector procurement.
  • NFU poultry adviser Tom Glen will be attending a Broiler Innovation Network meeting in Solihull to discuss the latest research and on-farm practices to promote bird health, welfare and sustainability.

  • NFU Horticulture and Potatoes Board chair Martin Emmett and various NFU policy advisers will be speaking at the Fruit Focus event taking place in Kent. 
  • The NFU Turkey Group (open to any NFU member who rears seasonal poultry) will meet virtually to discuss the latest policy issues for seasonal poultry producers, including access to labour, avian influenza and the NFU’s autumn turkey marketing campaign. You can register to join on NFUonline

  • NFU chief sustainable supply chains adviser Alex Stevens is attending the Food & Drink Federation parliamentary reception in Westminster. 
  • NFU chief poultry adviser Aimee Mahony will be meeting with Defra’s Pigs, Eggs & Poultry team to highlight the latest issues and opportunities facing egg producers.

  • NFU chief renewable energy adviser Jonathan Scurlock is participating at a roundtable meeting at RICS headquarters in London on 'Delivering a National Land Use Framework'.

  • Our network of county advisers is reaching out to prospective parliamentary candidates from all parties across England and Wales. So far, we’ve already contacted 904 and met with 378. We will continue to highlight the needs of British farmers to all prospective candidates at agricultural shows and member farm visits.

  • NFU Poultry Board chair James Mottershead and co-opted board member Jonty Hay will be attending the Red Tractor poultry board meeting in London as the NFU’s representatives, ensuring the views of poultry producers are heard at the meeting.
  • NFU poultry adviser Tom Glen is attending an egg sector meeting on activism.
  • NFU Deputy President David Exwood is meeting with Natural England for their quarterly catch-up.

British Agriculture Bureau – Tues 2 July

  • NFU Combinable Crops Board chair Jamie Burrows and senior advisor Luke Cox will be in Brussels on Tuesday to attend the Copa Cogeca Working Party on Cereals and Oilseeds.

  • NFU Deputy President David Exwood will be attending a National Trust liaison meeting regarding tenant farmers at their national office in Heelis.

  • NFU european policy adviser Kate Adams is attending a Copa Cogeca technical meeting to discuss how below-cost selling provisions have been implemented in some member states and how this measure may be used in the future.

  • British Agriculture Bureau Director Robin Manning is meeting French farmers from the French Union (FNSEA) in London to discuss farming in the UK post-Brexit.

  • NFU chief sustainable supply chains adviser Alex Stevens will meet the Waitrose Agriculture Team to discuss latest trends and particularly focussing on their beef procurement.

  • NFU Vice President Rachel Hallos will be interviewed on her farm by ITV as a part of a national news piece on weather.

  • NFU President Tom Bradshaw will host the Irish Farmers Association, who are visiting Stoneleigh on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of a study trip. They will visit two local farms, and hear from NFU staff about the SFI, trade and how Brexit has impacted British farmers.

  • NFU senior climate change adviser Ceris Jones and european policy adviser Jenny Brunton will attend a United Nations Climate Conference where they will represent the Farmers' Constituency to ensure the voices of farmers are heard.

  • NFU Vice President Rachel Hallos will be interviewed by a major national broadcaster as a part of a rural crime news piece.

  • NFU President Tom Bradshaw will host a national member webinar on bluetongue featuring the UK's Chief Veterinary Officer, Christine Middlemiss. The session will cover the recent risk assessment, the current situation, and what future Defra policy will look like.

The annual Farm to Fork Summit was a key ask from the NFU general election manifesto – Farming for Britain's Future – and marks a significant step in the NFU's campaign for recognition of the strategic importance of British food and farming.
