If so, you may be interested in undertaking a CEVAS (Countryside and Education Visits Accreditation Scheme) course. Access To Farms (ATF) runs a two-day accredited training course to help you and your staff share experiences and develop knowledge and skills to reassure schools that farm visits are safe and educationally valuable.

A distance learning option is also available for people with appropriate prior experience.

The course covers three key areas:

  • preparing for farm visits;
  • food, farming and the countryside in the national curriculum, and,
  • communication to pupils, students and teachers

Access to Farms partnership now offers a second, therapeutic, training route, in addition to the existing educational route. The new, therapeutic route covers a wide range of visitors with mainly therapeutic aims and outcomes and addresses the diverse needs of different clients and the additional safety considerations that need to be made to meet them. Course dates for January and February 2015 are online now.
