NFU and FFA meet Morrisons

This is a joint statement on behalf of the NFU and FFA:

“This was a constructive and robust meeting. We are pleased that Morrisons was able to reaffirm the public commitments it has made to provide a minimum price for liquid milk and launch the Milk for Farmer’s cheese and milk lines at the beginning of October. This‎ follows increasingconsumer demand for retailers to act more responsibly towards dairy farmers supplying them with liquid milk and other dairy products.

“We also heard about Morrisons’ plans to develop a winter support fund for farmers supplying milk for cheese, again following calls from consumers. Over the coming days Morrisons will be reviewing how it can make cost savings to bring money to the table for this fund and we will be meeting with the retailer again on Friday to hear its plans on this in more detail.”
