NFU issues action plan on fly-grazing

Last updated: 01 Aug 2013

In January 2013 the NFU produced a report examining the scale of ‘fly-grazing’ in England and Wales and seeking to identify workable, cost-effective remedies for farmers affected by it.

Horse grazing_274_182With the Welsh government having made a separate commitment to develop improved measures, our new action plan focuses on England.

It brings together recommendations from our report and various updates, in particular the decision by NFU Council to push for fly-grazing to be made a criminal offence. An NFU survey in 2012 found that around six per cent of our members (amounting to well over a thousand farmers) have direct experience of this problem.
