On Monday 21 December at 7.00pm, the region is hosting a Christmas quiz - which will be virtual, but virtual with a difference. The quiz master for the evening will be NFU Deputy President, Stuart Roberts, and the event will very definitely be a social one, with dedicated virtual 'huddle spaces' for every team (replicating the usual pub table) and a prize for the most festive outfit on the night.
"We really hope for a good response to this event as it offers friends, family and colleagues the chance for some Christmas fun at the end of a very challenging year, when so many of us have been unable to socialise as we normally would," said Acting North East Regional Director, Andrew Butler.
"We know that our new virtual world is not to everyone's liking, but it does offer innovative ways to bring people together and we hope to capitalise on that for our quiz. As well as offering a way to replicate the pub quiz, we are also making sure people can stay in their team spaces after the quiz has finished to have a proper catch-up.
"We are grateful to our Deputy President, Stuart Roberts, for taking the time to host the event and act as quiz master. He's sure to add some good farming humour to the proceedings."
Anyone wanting to take part simply needs to get their team together and register it by email - ideally by Monday 14 December at 5.00pm. Teams can be any size and this event is open to non-members as well. Individuals and households can also register if they want.
The dress code is 'casual with a hint of festive'. Christmas jumpers and Santa hats are encouraged, but not compulsory, and there will be a prize for the best outfit on the night.
Anyone with questions can contact the Regional Office on 01904 451550. Staff are also available to advise on how to access the event, for those unused to dialling into virtual calls.
