Update from Johanna Musson

Open Farm Sunday

Team Lincolnshire assisted in Open Farm Sunday last weekend.

County Chair, Henry Moreton, Livestock Representative, Lindsey Hutton, Group Secretary, Andrew Wilson and I planted around 300 sunflower seeds with children at Stourton Estates.

There were tractor and trailer rides around the estate to learn more about the business and see the deer, grain pits for the children to play in. It was great to see local farming businesses selling food, drinks and flowers.

Rhonda Thompson planted more sunflower seeds at Sutton Estates with Susie and Aimie, Group Secretaries from the Louth and Alford branch. They also had a successful day, including a visit from MP Sir Edward Leigh.

The enthusiasm and hard work of everyone involved with Open Farm Sunday allows the public to connect with farming and get a better understanding of the vital role that farmers play as food producers and custodians of the land.

Rural crime

There has been a spate of machinery, GPS and fuel theft around Lincolnshire.

Lincolnshire Police believe that crime is still underreported in our county and wants to encourage all members to continue reporting every incident, no matter how small, as it helps the force to map the crimes and gain intel.

Members can report non urgent crimes by calling 101 or online

If a crime is in progress always call 999, using What3Words to provide a location

This is presented in a bespoke, individual project report for each participant.

We have awarded the contract for this project to GSC Grays, who will carry out the project. If you would like to know more information or have any queries please email [email protected]

Lincolnshire County Council – Funding Advice Sessions (free)

Lincolnshire County Council is funding advice sessions for county farmers in the light of a series of government policies that have affected the sector.

The impartial advice sessions we are funding include business planning and strategy, managing cashflow, diversification and succession planning. We hope as many farming businesses as possible take up this offer as we help them through the most challenging of times.

The sessions are co-ordinated by the Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub, which provides business support information covering all sectors and growth stages. Targeted advice is delivered by Savills – industry experts and local land agents.
