Tom Bradshaw
NFU President
The home farm is based around arable production but has also diversified into equestrian and renewables.
Tom has represented the NFU from Local Branch Chairman through to Chair of the National Combinable Crops Board.
Tom was elected to the position of NFU President in February 2024 and re-elected in February 2026.

Paul Tompkins
NFU Deputy President
Not from a farming background, Paul worked in the financial sector before meeting his wife and joining the family dairy business.
Farming as part of a family partnership in the Vale of York, he combines hands‑on experience running a large, modern dairy business with more than a decade representing producers at national level.
His work has focused on championing a confident and sustainable future for UK farming, shaped by those who understand its realities on the ground.
As a long‑serving member of the NFU Dairy Board, Paul helped navigate volatility in milk markets, environmental regulation and changing trade conditions, always arguing for policies that reward productive, resilient farm businesses.
Alongside his policy work, he is an active communicator, using media, events and on‑farm engagement to bridge the gap between farmers, industry and policymakers.
With two teenage children and as a keen runner, Paul is rooted in family, community and the countryside, bringing energy, clarity and determination to every role he undertakes.
Paul was elected to the position of NFU Deputy President in February 2026.

Robyn Munt
NFU Vice-president
Passionate about the future of British farming, Robyn champions innovation and opportunity within the sector.
Founder of Wight Rural Hub and an independent consultant, she believes in the power of bringing farmers and stakeholders together to share knowledge, strengthen collaboration and develop practical solutions that drive sustainable, forward-looking farm businesses.
Robyn was elected to the position of NFU Vice-president in February 2026.

Sophie Throup
NFU Director General
Before joining the NFU, Sophie spent a decade in the veterinary sector, running research and training programmes. She most recently held the roles of Head of Agriculture at Morrisons and then as a Senior Director of the Myton Food Group.
Sophie has also served as non-exec director for Assured Food Standards (Red Tractor), a steering committee member for the Food Industry Initiative on Antimicrobials (FIIA) and was part of Defra’s Animal Health and Welfare Pathway sub-group focusing on legislation, rounding out her wealth of experience.
Her roots have always been in agriculture, and she lives at home in Yorkshire, where her husband and two of her three children are partners in the wider family farming business running dairy, arable cropping, green energy and free-range egg enterprises.

Dr Mark Betson
NFU National Water Resources Specialist
Mark has joined the NFU from the Church of England where he was providing advice to the church in the House of Lords and national church institutions on public policy issues relating to rural affairs, environmental science, land and heritage.
He has a background supporting agriculture as regional director for the Farming Community Network in the South East and with water research working for Adas as a consultant.
Mark has also been involved volunteering with educational work promoting agriculture in schools and supporting students at land based colleges with the South of England Agricultural Society.
He is now based in Northamptonshire with his family where he has an active involvement in local village life.
