Former Herefordshire County Adviser Ali Parker

The NFU Midlands team has bid a fond farewell to Herefordshire County Adviser Ali Parker who has moved to pastures new.

A hugely popular member of the team for both staff and members, Ali has joined the 2 Sisters Food Group as she wraps up almost four years in the role, which has been taken up by new recruit Catherine Hinds.

She was able to say goodbye to her members at an emotional Herefordshire AGM before Christmas, where she was widely praised by guest speaker, NFU President Tom Bradshaw, County Chair Martin Williams and the audience for her tenacity, dedication and prowess during a tumultuous time for farming.

"Absolute privilege"

"What an absolute privilege it has been to do the job for the past nearly four years," she said.

"I’m a Herefordshire farmer's daughter and this county means the most to me and always will, so it has really been an honour to do whatever I can to try and make the case for Herefordshire farmers.

"My biggest thank you goes to all of our fantastic members, without whom it would have been much more difficult when the challenges come."

At the AGM, she thanked members for supporting her and the NFU.

"The NFU is a phenomenal organisation and we are so lucky as a farming community to have it there fighting our corner every day," she told the audience.

"So, please continue to support the NFU, please show as much support to Catherine as you have done to me and I will look forward to seeing you at many things in the future.

"I’m still an NFU member, so I’ll be coming along and sitting on the other side of the table at next year's AGM."
