LNRS (Local Nature Recovery Strategies) in accordance with the Environment (Local Nature Recovery Strategies) (Procedure) Regulations 2023, public consultation on the Draft Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent is now underway.
The website includes links to the LNRS mapping and associated user guides, and to the public consultation survey, which can also be accessed here: Local Nature Recovery Strategy | Let's Talk Staffordshire.
You can make comments on the LNRS by completing the survey, and you can make detailed comments on the LNRS mapping by following the instructions in the user guides.
The public consultation will run for eight weeks, until 5pm on Monday 27 July 2026.
We have arranged for there to be three drop-in consultation events for farmers and landowners around the County. These will be at:
- 11 June, Westwood Golf Club, Leek at 10.30am to 2.30pm
- 18 June, Darnford Moors Golf Club, Lichfield, 3pm to 7pm
- 19 June, Staffordshire County Showground (Boden Room), 10.30am to 2.30pm
This is an important document likely to shape future plans and we encourage you to attend one of the events to better understand it, ask questions and input your information.
If you have any questions, email: [email protected]

The County Council will be able to sit with farmers and go through the mapping, with help from Chris Seabridge and Assocs.
If farmers wish to remove their land from the map, there are two ways of advocating for that, either through:
· the mapping here: LNRS consultation map - Staffs and Stoke LNRS (guidance on how to do it here: LNRS-How-to-Mapping-Guide-Landowner-Edits-Adding-or-Removing-Land.pdf); or,
· through filling out a form and submitting it along with associated documentation here: 260514-Staffordshire-and-Stoke-Landowner-Request-Form.pdf (the form is at the link at the 7th FAQ here: FAQs - Staffs and Stoke LNRS)
