The search is on for a co-chair of the Food and Drink Export Council. The Export Council will support the promotion of agri-food and drink exports and the DIT (Department for International Trade) want somebody in place in September. Read on to find out more.

The DIT has launched an expression of interest process for appointing an industry co-chair to the forthcoming Export Council. The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 10 August 2022, with interviews taking place late August and announcements planned for September.

The Export Council

The government announced, last year, its intention to establish a new Export Council to promote British goods overseas.

The new body will work collaboratively across the UK, and with industry and government to increase agriculture, food and drink exports.

The role

Individuals will be selected on the breadth of their knowledge and experience relating to the work of the Export Council.

They will need to be able to demonstrate strong, dynamic leadership skills and can build a cohesive Council that builds momentum and works equitably across sub sectors, whilst holding members of the Council to account in collectively owning and delivering tangible outcomes.

They will also need experience across key sub-sectors such as: drinks, meat and dairy, processed foods, plant-based, organic, health, and sustainability. They will also be expected to contribute to the Council’s ability, as a whole, to equitably represent business from all parts of the UK.
